Working principle of Mirror Spark EDM Machine
When the conductive micro powder enters the discharge gap, it is equivalent to connecting several small conductors between the two electrodes. At the same time, it distorts the electric field in the discharge gap, reduces the anti breakdown ability of the insulating medium in the gap, and discharges easily. The discharge gap increases accordingly. The increased discharge gap reduces the initiation of the electric erosion products on the discharge, and is conducive to the flow and discharge of the electric erosion products, thus reducing the occurrence of discharge concentration and making the discharge evenly distributed on the machined surface. The discharge gap increases, and the discharge channel becomes thicker. Under the same discharge pulse energy, the heating area of the workpiece surface increases and the heating intensity decreases, thus forming large and shallow discharge etch pits on the workpiece surface. At the same time, the increase of the discharge gap also reduces the throwing ability of the discharge to the molten metal, which makes more molten metal solidify on the surface of the workpiece, further reducing the depth of the discharge etch pit. Therefore, powder mixed EDM will form large and shallow discharge etch pits on the surface of the workpiece.
